Holden Heirs Cemetery

Geophysical survey to assess the potential for unmarked burials at the Holden Heirs Cemetery, Youngsville Township, Franklin County, North Carolina

A total of 28 marked and unmarked graves were located at the Holden Heirs Cemetery in Jackson County. It appears that these burials are limited to three rows of graves. Our client Legacy Research Associates staked and flagged an area where soil disturbance should be off limits during the development of this property. The area marked by Legacy Research Associates appears to be a sufficient buffer around the marked and unmarked graves located by this investigation.

After we completed our investigation, it was decided by the developer that this cemetery would be excavated and the burials relocated. A colleague supervising the cemetery relocation contacted us to let us know that we were "spot on" with the locations and number of unmarked burials. She noted that the only additional burial that they found that was not on our map was an infant burial at the end of one of our mapped rows of burials.
